By Ilio Masprone – Publisher – Knight of the Principality of Monaco for cultural merit

MONACO. After the mandatory closure of the exhibitions during the Covid-19 pandemic, Montecarlotimes-Les Nouvelles is pleased to announce and publicize the communication we have just received, offering new perspectives and new reasons to hope in the future here in Monaco and around the world. “The exhibition” Alberto Giacometti. A retrospective. The real wonderful” will take place from July 10 to August 29, 2021! In summer 2021, the Grimaldi Forum will present for the first time in Monaco a major retrospective of the work of the sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti, the most important of recent years.

Organized in association with the Giacometti Foundation granting an exceptional loan here, this exhibition will give place to all the periods of the artist and to all the forms he has used. It will offer a comprehensive view of Alberto Giacometti’s creation, from early works to the surrealist period’s paintings, from the return to figuration to his after-model work, until the invention of the after-war’s icons. Bringing together more than 230 works, punctuated by masterpieces and accompanied by photographs and films, this retrospective will offer visitors wonderful discoveries as part of a journey orchestrated by the curators Catherine Grenier, director of the Giacometti Foundation and president of the Giacometti Institute, and Émilie Bouvard, scientific director and collections of the Giacometti Foundation.”

We add that, during the pandemic and on the occasion of its 20th anniversary celebrated this year, the Principality’s congress and culture center, directed by Catherine Alestchenkoff, produced a series of videos devoted to the major summer exhibitions that have marked its history. Each week, it was possible to discover a series in 20 episodes on social networks and on the Grimaldi Forum Monaco website, to experience or relive 20 years of demanding and diverse programming, for all audiences, which contributed to the cultural wealth of Monaco and to its international influence.
