August – until September 9th – THE GOLD OF THE PHARAOHS – GRIMALDI FORUM – Following in the footsteps of the tremendously successful Queens of Egypt exhibition in 2008, the new 2018 summer exhibition once again showcases Egypt at Grimaldi Forum. 2,500 years of goldsmithing in Ancient Egypt, THE GOLD OF THE PHARAOHS presents a series of prestigious ensembles discovered in the royal tombs of Egypt’s Pharaohs, featuring jewellery, vases, pendants, bracelets, gold and silver belts, necklaces, golden disc mirrors, sarcophagi, gold-plated furniture, and funerary masks. Thanks to the precious expertise of Christiane Ziegler, the curator of the exhibition, you will find numerous documents explaining the extraordinary discoveries. The exhibition showcase sthese works, which represent one of the most ancient and universal forms of artistic expression.
August 11th, fireworks at 21:30: Bulgary – NTERNATIONAL MUSICAL FIREWORKS COMPETITION – The competition has been held since 1966 and brings pyrotechnic specialists from around the world to show off their talent. Fireworks begin around 9:30PM, or when it is dark. There is good viewing from several locations: around the port sitting at a café, from the palace area or along the ramparts of Fort Antoine, and just off the Casino Terrace. The competition goes through the month of August and the winner returns November 18 to create the fireworks display on the evening before the National Holiday. Moreover, on August 11th, the Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo will be offering an idyllic setting to admire the unique show from the terrace of the restaurant Le Vistamar, where you can enjoy a gourmet dinner deftly prepared by Chef Benoit Witz, at €195/person, 4-course menu (including a half-bottle of champagne rosé millésimé); or get a front-row seat to the fireworks display from the terrace of L’Hirondelle and watch as the “Solarium” transforms into a “Lunarium”. August 10,14,19&31 – ROMAN THEATRE -FOUR OPEN AIR CONCERTS – VENTIMIGLIA – ITALY (on the French border, 30 minutes from Monaco). After almost four years of work and almost 2 millions euros spent, the Roman theatre of Ventimiglia is reborn. The doors of the archaeological area of Albintimilium and its “jewel” have reopened. At the ribbon cut on August 7th, with the mayor Enrico Ioculano and the president of the Province Fabio Natta, there were also Valentina Fiore and Simona Bertolucci, director of the Ventimiglia pole and the museum pole of Liguria. They illustrated the intervention, with the mission of return the theater to the city: «It is a space where to make and spread culture and a new aggregative space». Fiore said. It will be the stage of many events: the first show on Friday the 10th, with the “Aulularia” of Plautus, open day on August 14th, a tribute to Pink Floyd on August 19th and the poetry show “Dell’amore le parole” on the 31st. The theatre lovers will appreciate this new venue. August 21st – 26th – PALERMO/MONTECARLO REGATTA – The Palermo-Montecarlo is an offshore regatta among the most important and renowned in the Mediterranean Sea. The race is part of numerous international circuits including the Italian Offshore Championship of the Italian Sailing Federation, the Mediterranean Offshore Trophy, the Owner of the Year delivered by UVAI association and the IRC Championnat et Trophees Inshore and Offshore Mediterranee en Equipages.Founded in 2005 following both wishes from Principality of Monaco Consul and the City of Palermo sports council to unite two historically friendly cities through a yacht race, the Palermo-Montecarlo offers a regatta with high technical contents and beautiful landscapes to all sailing lovers. The regatta’s record is held by Igor Simcic’s maxi Esimit Europa 2, main player in several editions: completing the course in 47 hours, 46 minutes and 48 seconds in 2015, he smashed the previous record of one hour and fifteen minutes. In addition to the victory in real time, beating this record remains one of the targets for the Maxi Yachts expected on the starting line of the next 14th edition of the Palermo-Montecarlo, scheduled from 21 to 26 August 2018.
From August 30th to September 2nd 2018 – 2018 E&A EUROPEAN U21 AND DISABLED WATERSKI CHAMPIONSHIPS – MONACO WAKE AND SKI – LAKE ARENA – ROQUEBRUNE SUR ARGENS, PROVENCE ALPES CÔTE D`AZUR – FRANCE – Monaco Wake And Ski – Water Sport Club – Water Sport Charter is on beautiful Lake Arena, surrounded by France’s incredible Côte D`Azur. The FMSN (Fédération Monégasque Ski Nautique) holds the lake Arena’s rights of exploitation. The Waterski Federation Monaco was created in 2008 and counts about fifty licensees. The practice of this discipline is done in the Var at Roquebrune-sur-Argens on Lake Arena, which will host the 2018 E&A European U21 and Disabled Waterski Championships. The Disabled Waterski Championship will boast an exceptional guest star, the 31 years old Italian Daniele Cassioli, (vision impaired) holder of 20 European and 22 World titles. In fact, the Championship is open to foreign skiers, and it will count 2 Slaloms, 2 Tricks and 2 Jumpings. Like many Monaco sports clubs, such as the Monte-Carlo Golf Club or the Monte-Carlo Ski Club, the Monaco Wake and Ski had to find the right space for outdoor water skiing. In 2013 the Monegasque team composed by President Aleco Keusseoglou, vice-President Jean-Michel Cau and General Secretary Jacqueline Parisi, reached an agreement with the town hall of Roquebrune-sur-Argens and went through a restoration of the place. Thanks to Prince Albert II support, because everything about sport is important to him, the Federation has received a grant from the government and some private sponsors participated to fullfill the 800.000€ pledge. August 31 2018 – LOBODA – CONCERT – OPERA GARNIER MONTE-CARLO – Svetlana Serhiivna Loboda, born on October 1982 in Kiev, also known by the stage name LOBODA, is a Ukrainian singer and composer. As a young girl, Loboda studied the piano, conducting, variety and jazz vocal. She grew up to have the experience of being a composer, a leading role actress in a musical, a TV host, a designer, a photographer, a singer in Ukraine’s, Russia’s and CIS most popular girl band and finally as a solo artist. From an early age Loboda showed a tendency for music and acting, making home musicals for her parents and relatives on family holidays. Loboda studied the piano and at the same time mastered the art of singing and conducting. Loboda continued with her music studies and entered the department of variety and jazz singing at the Kiev Variety and Circus Academy. It was at this time that she became a member of the band “Cappuccino”. In 2003 she auditioned for the first ever-Ukrainian professional musical “The Equator”, where she received the leading role of “Mirana”. On 28 December 2003, she started a new band – “Catch”. Svetlana was the creator of the repertoire and stage costumes for the band. That was her first professional experience as a composer and designer. Loboda represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and finished at the 12th place. Loboda released her solo single “Live easy” in January 2010, “Heart is beating” with Max Barskih in spring, and “Revolution” in October.
