22nd April, 2018 – EARTH DAY – We must break down the 7 biggest environmental threats facing our society right now and how we might be able to solve them before it’s too late: Climate Change, Deforestation, Pollution, Loss of bio-diversity, Melting Polar Ice-Caps and Rising Sea Levels, Oceanic Dead Zones, and Explosive Population Growth. Earth Day 2018: End Plastic Pollution – Countdown to April 22 – From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet. In response, Earth Day 2018 is dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics. In Monaco Considering the impact that this plastic pollution has on marine ecosystems and resources, as well as on the quality of water and human health, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Surfrider Foundation Europe, the Tara Expeditions Foundation, the Mava Foundation and IUCN decided to join forces within the “Beyond plastic Med” (BeMed) Task Force, in order to mobilise and raise the awareness of civil society through specific actions. The goal here is to create a Mediterranean network of local stakeholders (NGOs, groups, private stakeholders) committed to the fighting against plastic pollution, in order to develop exemplary projects. Thus, in January 2017, BeMed launched a call for micro-initiatives involving all the countries in the Mediterranean Basin, in order to provide financial support to local projects aiming to reduce the plastic pollution on shores and in the sea. Eleven projects from Greece, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Albania, Lebanon, Tunisia and Montenegro are honoured in Monaco in the presence of H.S.H. 26th at 8pm – 28th at 8pm – 29th at 4pm, April, 2018 – GRIMALDI FORUM – VARIETY SHOW – BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO – Choreographic Reveals Signed Balanchine and Maillot – For the spring of 2018, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo are offering a program made up of two ballets. The first, Abstract/Life, a creation by Jean-Christophe Maillot, takes up the idea of a vast concerto, this time for cello and orchestra. Bruno Mantovani’s score was commissioned by Marc Monnet (Artistic Advisor to the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo). Sensitive to the way in which Jean-Christophe Maillot appropriates all types of music, the composer created “Abstract”, which alternates between dazzling contrasts and moments of waiting before submitting his piece to the choreographer, with whom he had already collaborated in 2004 for the superb “Miniatures” ballet. The second ballet proposed ,”Violin Concerto” (composed by Stravinski), marks the great return of Balanchine. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, which have showcased 19 ballets by “Mister B”, are among the best companies to have performed it. The choreographer, who refuses to speak about his work in terms of preference, himself agreed to say that this “Violin Concerto” was “well made”; that it to say, that it had reached, on the technical side, a “certain” point of fulfillment. In collaboration with the Printemps des Arts and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. Direction: Pascal Rophé – Solo cellist for “Abstract”: Marc Coppey.
