14th and 15th September 2018 – from 8 pm to 9:45 pm – GRIMALDI FORUM – GALA KAZAKHSTAN ASTANA BALLET – The Astana Ballet Theater presents its show “Kazakhstan Astana Ballet Gala” including the fairy tale “The Legacy of the Great Steppe” as well as the ballets in a neoclassical act “Love. Fear. Loss”and “A Fuego Lento”. “The legacy of the great steppe” is typical folk dances, it is the harmonious encounter between ethnographic knowledge and the creations of contemporary choreographers combining various artistic processes, where the inimitable character of the national dance asserts itself. The ballet of choreographer Ricardo Amarante “Love. Fear. Loss”i s articulated on three duets, each of which expresses a feeling indissolubly linked to the story of Edith Piaf’s life. This mini-show is imbued with the atmosphere of love and tragedy unique to that unforgettable singer. The sounds of the grand piano and the beauty of the lines of the dance fill the whole scene, as if to repeat the motto of the great Piaf: “Nothing should distract the public”. Each issue of the one-act ballet “A Fuego Lento” (choreograph: Ricardo Amarante) is a tango-themed dance fantasy, where emotion meets the virtuoso technique and the spectacular movements and silhouettes. This ballet concentrates the burning essence of the most sensual of dances, the tango. Reservations: www.grimaldiforum.com Tel.00377 99993000 ticket@grimaldiforum.mc – see cover image.

27 October 2018 – SPORTING CLUB MONTE-CARLO – STAR ROOM – NIGHT OF THE BLUES – BUDDY GUY – JOHNNY GALLAGHER & THE BOXTIE BAND – MANU LANVIN & THE DEVIL BLUES – At 82, Buddy Guy continues to influence any guitarist who adventure one day on the twelve steps of the blues. Pioneer of the West Chicago sound and guitar hero ever, George Buddy Guy, born July 30, 1936 in Lettsworth (Louisiana), engraved the stone tablets of the blues guitar. His touch, velocity and spectacular play influenced the greatest players of the six strings. But far from resting on the multiple laurels that have earned him five decades of loyal service to the cause of electric blues, Buddy Guy continues to record essential albums. His guitar playing is still flamboyant and his voice gives no sign of tireness. We are therefore looking forward to seeing him in October, more electric than ever, on the stage for another legendary concert. In agreement with Gérard Drouot Productions – Recognized for being one of the best guitarists in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Johnny Gallagher is above all a stage artist where he can express all his explosive talent and his inimitable voice. His concerts are a mix of original compositions and personal versions of songs by Pink Floyd, The Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Green and Jimmie Rodgers.
Singer guitarist and exceptional show-man, Manu Lanvin is today a key figure of French blues-rock. With six albums to his credit, including three with his power trio the Devil Blues, Manu has chained since 2012 nearly 500 concerts including prestigious scenes in Europe and the United States. Acclaimed by a growing public at his concerts, and hailed by his peers, such as Quincy Jones, Manu Lanvin “the devil” undoubtedly embodies the renewal of the genre and has over the years perfected an explosive rock blues. His show is selected as one of the “Best Performances of the Year” by Rock & Folk magazine. He will present his new album, composed of some classic blues revisited, but also original songs that he recorded with his favorite musicians Jimi Montout (on drums), Nicolas Belanger (on bass), Diabolo (on the harmonica ), Mike Latrell (keyboards) and Jérémy Lacoste (slide guitar).
